HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Atlantic Youth Hockey League and the North Jersey Avalanche are pleased to announce that Midget 18U forward Todd Goehring (Wayside, N.J.) has committed to Sacred Heart University for the 2017-18 season.

Goehring leads the Avalanche with sevens goals and 12 assists for 19 points in 16 games, making the forward the Midget 18U division’s second leading scorer.

“I visited a ton of schools while I was in high school but Sacred Heart stood out to me,” Goehring said. “I fell in love with the campus and knew I wanted to go there.”

Prior to joining the Avalanche, Goehring spent six seasons with the New Jersey Junior Titans organization. For his AYHL career, Goehring has accounted for 56 goals and 67 assists in 162 games. The Wayside, New Jersey native has also added an additional 25 points (17G 8A) in 31 games in the prestigious Tier 1 Elite Hockey League.

“After telling my coaches that Sacred Heart was my number one school, through hard work and dedication I was able to earn a visit and earn an opportunity to meet with the coaching staff,” Goehring added. “I love how hard the team works. The culture is unreal and I can’t wait to be a part of it.

“We are extremely happy for Todd and his family,” said head coach Mark Lotito. “Todd has worked extremely hard this season, continuously being one of our top players.”

“Todd is a skilled, hard-nose player with a great shot and will make an impact at Sacred Heart,” Lotito added. “Most importantly, Todd is a great person and a team player who is constantly leading by example. Sacred Heart is getting a good one.”

Goehring is the second Avalanche Midget 18U player to commit this season, joining forward Bobby Hampton (Middletown, New Jersey) who committed to Northeastern University. Forward Evan Wisocky (Hoboken, N.J. / UCONN) was also promoted to the Sioux City Musketeers (USHL).
