Gibson Selected by Capitals

The AMHL would like to congratulate former Jr Flyers goaltender Mitchell Gibson! Gibson was drafted by the defending Stanley Cup Champion Washington Capitals in the NHL Entry Draft this past Saturday. Gibson was drafted 124th overall in the fourth round of the 2018 NHL Draft.

Gibson is set to attend the Capitals Prospect Development Camp at the end of June before closing the 2017-18 season. This past year, Gibson was recognized as the NAHL’s Goaltender and Rookie of the Year, took home the title as the South Division MVP, tied an NAHL record posting 11 shutouts in one regular season and finished with an overall record (including playoffs) of 31-10-9.

The Phoenixville, PA native also finished the regular season leading in the NAHL in goals against average (1.59) and save percentage (93.5%), which were both the lowest numbers in the league since the 2014-15 season. He represented the Brahmas on the NAHL Selects team at the Top Prospects Tournament and will attend Harvard University in the fall of 2019 after one more year of playing juniors with the Central Illinois Flying Aces of the USHL.
