Atlantic Youth Hockey League

The 2018 DICK'S Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic 18U Tournament finished with the only AYHL team competing in the tournament at the top. Virtua Hockey of the Atlantic Youth Hockey League, played other top tier I teams at the Pittsburgh event. In total, 19 states were  represented between the teams participating in the Fall Classic Youth Tournaments: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin.

 Virtua Hockey won the 18U division by defeating Belle Tire in an exciting overtime 4-3. “We had a great experience at the USHL fall classic. It was a first class event in every way, and the competition was stiff all the way to the end. Three of our five games went to overtime, and every game was highly competitive.” Said head coach Jared Beach. He also added,  “playing games alongside the USHL as seemingly every division 1 school in the country had at least 1 coach in attendance. On top of that, every NHL team had a scouting presence at the event. Several of our players garnered interest from both the Division 1 coaches as well as NHL scouts. We are very grateful to the USHL to have received an invite to the fall classic!” Virtua Hockey is off to a hot start in the AYHL 18U Premier division with a 5-1 record. The Atlantic Youth Hockey League is the USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier I AAA youth hockey league of the Atlantic District. From Connecticut to Maryland, the AYHL’s membership is comprised of over 100 teams, representing four districts, and is spread across six playing divisions. The AYHL’s mission is to develop young players with competition, fun, and good sportsmanship, and move them on to the next phase of their hockey career. With a distinguished alumni list of players that spent a portion of their playing career in the AYHL, today’s players choose to play in the AYHL knowing that it is a proven stepping stone for those serious in their hockey pursuits.
