Atlantic Youth Hockey League

The New Jersey Titans Youth Hockey Program, proud members of the Atlantic Youth Hockey League, is pleased to announce that 16U defenseman Anthony Dowd has committed to play NCAA Division I Ice Hockey for the Providence Friars, who play in the Hockey East Association.

Dowd, 16, has played 62 games and has collected 42 points (13 goals and 29 assists) during his career with the 16U team. The scouting report from the recent USA Hockey Select 16 Camp briefly stated the following about the Point Pleasant Beach, NJ native: “The small, nimble shifty defenseman is a poised puck carrier, his head is always up ice looking for lanes and he has an excellent combination of vision and passing ability.”

“I am excited to announce my commitment to play Division 1 college hockey at Providence College” stated Dowd. “I would like to thank all of my family and friends that have helped me get to where I am today” concluded Dowd.

“I can’t thank George Haviland enough for what he’s done for both my boys” stated Jimmy Dowd, Anthony’s father and former National Hockey League player. “I will never forget. Both committed as U16 Titans and George has been a huge part of it. Lisa and I can’t thank him enough! What George is doing for kids in New Jersey is unreal. Keep up the great work” concluded Dowd.

"I am super thrilled that Anthony has accepted an offer to play for Providence College” stated George Haviland, President/Director of Players of the New Jersey Titans. “It is never easy to be the son of an NHL player and then have a brother who also is committed to play NCAA Division I hockey (Penn State). To live up to those tremendous accolades it’s tough on anyone but Anthony just kept being Anthony and kept getting better. He is a hard-working player with tremendous vision and great stick skills. He will make a tremendous college hockey player. The entire Titans organization is super proud of Anthony and his accomplishment today" concluded Haviland.
