Tuning into a competitive weekend for 14U division

HACKENSACK, N.J. – Philadelphia Hockey Club’s 14U Premier squad is squared up for a defining weekend with games scheduled against the two teams currently ahead of them in the standings. Saturday afternoon they take on the first place North Jersey Avalanche and Sunday afternoon they travel across the Delaware to challenge the second place Philadelphia Jr. Flyers.

The undefeated Jr. Flyers might present a tougher challenge for PHC who is currently 4-3-1. The Avalanche’s only two losses have been up against the Jr. Flyers, but both games were separated by only one goal.

Head-to-head, the Avalanche defeated PHC, 2-1, just two weeks ago. PHC was on the board first and held off the Avalanche until the third period when they gave up two goals that put the Avalanche on top. PHC played the Jr. Flyers in their first game of the season on opening weekend and were defeated 3-0. During that contest, the Jr. Flyers were on the board early and PHC did not turn up the defensive support until the third period when they were able to control the game and keep it at 3-0 the entire final 16 minutes.

The puck drops between PHC and the Avalanche in Hackensack at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, and against the Jr. Flyers in West Chester at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
