Week 12 preview: Final push before the break

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – As teams gear up for the final weekend before the holiday break, the standings are tight, the matchups are meaningful, and everyone’s hoping to head into Thanksgiving with a little extra reason to be thankful on the scoreboard.

In 10U Minor, the Philadelphia Little Flyers, Philadelphia Hockey Club, and North Jersey Avalanche continue to set the pace, with the Avalanche still perfect at 11-0-0. They draw a doubleheader this weekend, opening with the New Jersey Colonials on Saturday before facing the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Sunday. With two opportunities to add points, they enter the break with a chance to strengthen their grip on the top of the division.

The 12U Minor division remains one of the most competitive in the league, led by the Long Island Royals and Philadelphia Hockey Club. PHC faces the New Jersey Colonials on Saturday as they look to keep pressure on the Royals, who take on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and the North Jersey Avalanche in a challenging back-to-back. With both division leaders on the ice — and Royals playing twice — the race at the top could look very different by Monday.

In 14U Major Premier, the North Jersey Avalanche sit at 6-2-1 and aim to hold their lead with a Sunday matchup against the Long Island Royals. The Royals, who have played the fewest games in the division, get a chance to make up ground with a doubleheader weekend. With points up for grabs and teams within striking distance, this division could see the biggest standings shift heading into the holiday pause.

With rivalry matchups, doubleheaders, and top-of-the-table pressure across the league, Week 12 sets the stage for a compelling sprint into the break — and maybe even a few early feasts before the real one on Thursday.
