Defining week for 18U Premier Elite Hockey Club

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – With three games on the schedule before Sunday, Elite Hockey Club has the chance to move into first place in week 11 of play. Currently in second, they face off against the New Jersey Colonials Saturday evening which could be a referendum on the entire season.

The first game of their run is up against their Connecticut rivals, the Danbury Hat Tricks. Elite is off on Friday evening, but Saturday at 5 p.m. they take the ice against the Colonials at home. The two have not yet faced one another this season, and while Elite has shown a slightly more competitive edge so far, the second game of the weekend for Elite could be either one’s victory for the taking.

In close games this season, Elite has struggled in overtime. In their second game of the season against the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, it was the Jr. Flyers who snagged the extra point. Their other overtime game was against the Philadelphia Little Flyers and stayed a tied game. In their matchup against the Colonials, it is very likely the game could be tied at the end of regulation. The question remains whether Elite has worked through its special teams in the past month and is ready to take advantage of the extra minutes.

Following their game Saturday evening, they hit the ice again on Sunday afternoon against the New Jersey Jr. Titans. The Jr. Titans are relatively unseen in regular season play so far this year, so the outcome could go either way. The Jr. Titans win percentage is only 11 basis points behind Elite.

Elite takes the ice against the Colonials at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday against the Jr. Titans. Both games are at Total Mortgage Arena.
