HACKENSACK, N.J. – Sunday afternoon is a game that we have all been waiting for in the 16U Premier division. The second place Philadelphia Junior Flyers are traveling up the Turnpike to take on the first place North Jersey Avalanche.
The past two times that the two teams have met, the Avalanche have come out on top. During the first contest, the Avalanche scored in the first period, but the game remained 1-0 for nearly two periods. It was not until six minutes into the third period when the Avalanche put another past the Jr. Flyers and then scored a third.
During the second contest, the Avalanche scored two in the first period and looked like they were poised to run away with it following a third goal in the second period. But the Jr. Flyers managed to slow the roll with a goal and the game ended at 4-1.
The final game of the season between the two on Sunday will be a preview of action to come at playoffs. The Avalanche have another league scheduled on Saturday evening in Connecticut, but the Jr. Flyers will have fresh legs with no other league play scheduled this weekend.
The game starts at 1:15 p.m. at the Ice House.
